Open Django is a new series of open source conferences designed to bring the best and brightest minds in the Django community to a city near you.
The Open Bastion is putting the experience gained with DjangoCon US into organizing a series of three events across the country—in New Jersey, Texas and Oregon. These are single-track conferences, so there is no chance of missing a session because it conflicts with another. Open Django East in Newark, New Jersey is ready to go on May 18-19 and we look forward to meeting Django friends old and new to discuss what's new in the recent Django 1.4 release.
Open source is still relatively new, so we are hoping that by providing talks that will appeal to Django's loyal followers these conferences will also be able to help answer questions about using and contributing to the Django codebase. But it's not exclusively Django, and we will be getting experts in other technologies to explain best practices so you can integrate them more easily into your web projects.
